Howarth Park

This beach is hidden off the main road near Mukilteo.  There are two parts to this park an upper park with play equipment, tennis courts, old growth stumps, and spectacular views.

Drive a little further and you will find first a lookout point with some limited parking, but keep following Olympic Blvd. At the bottom of the hill you will find a turn off for a much larger parking area to your left. This turn off didn’t appear to be marked with signage, other than a small sign with park hours.

From the parking lot you will  follow a wooden walkway over a small stream and up some stairs to an iron bridge that will take you across the train tracks and down to a beautiful sandy Puget Sound beach.  Yes, I could hardly believe my eyes the Puget Sound has so few sandy beaches. A great place to search for seashells or build some sand castles.

The stairs down to the beach have several landings with lots of space for covered picnicking or lounging in a hammock in the shade. This is a dog friendly park, but please keep animals leashed.
